Genealogy Briefing

In today's lecture were briefed on our new project title and theme; it was surrounding the idea of Genealogy and how a spark of an idea or message can create several narratives that can lead to producing something fascinating and somewhat compelling.

For the project, we were also asked to question more in-depth responses; analysing outcomes to create something fascinating.

For this brief I was asked to develop a narrative to a found object, developing visual language and communication using the recovered material. The challenge here is to elevate, alter, and advance the perception of the object using original storytelling techniques, through research and creative thinking.
We are asked to develop the brief through 4 parts;
  • Undertake creative and ambitious research beyond the parameters of each theme based on a chosen object
  • Develop a first narrative about the found item
  • Flip and Distort the story to show a changed genealogy practice
  • Create a final developed outcome that would be unique, personal and inventive relating to the field of Graphic Communication and Design
Instantly, my mind was racing with different results and themes. I began to focus my attention on fashion; around the way in which fashion promotions and editorials are developed and composed. I also thought about graffiti art and how its a process of coming up with an idea and following it through onto the street environment. Either plan for me was fascinating and ideal.
