Creating Presentations

For this weeks process and production with Jay, we completed an overview of presentation techniques with multiple things to consider when creating PDF Presentations. I really enjoyed the initial sound of this project as it comes from an editorial and image content background.                                                        We started by looking at Scanned images and how we can manipulate these in a way that would benefit the aesthetic of the presentation. Increasing the colour balance, auto tone and the lightness and contrast enables for the actual drawing, photo or graphic become more visually appealing. We then looked at cohesive ways in which we can manipulate the flow and narrative of a presentation and how we can create a journey for the viewer by the use of guidelines and grids. Bread Typography

This weeks Process and Production workshop was based around the idea of creating Typography out of a limited medium. Our medium that we had to create with was Bread. Our task was to each bring along with us one loaf of bread and, working in a pair, create inventive structures and outcomes out of an everyday household object.  We started thinking about ideas surrounding how we would manipulate the bread in such a way that the aesthetic still looked good and you could tell what letter it was. We started, I think, In the same way as everyone else - cutting out simple letter forms from each slice that suggested the shape of a particular letter. We were then challenged by Nick to think outside the box and to think about how the crust of the loaf was working as a frame and somewhat a barrier to our creations.
