Basic Video Editing
In Lesson 5 with Jay, we looked at Basic Video Editing. Using Premiere Pro CC as the main software, we learnt basic video editing techniques that would enable us to edit future projects effectively in Premiere.
We first of all started by setting up folders professionally that would enable us to work effectively. Creating a new project and then a new sequence helped us set up the initial stage. We then set up an HD quality screen by which we would be able to work to our full potential. We then started the first of our slideshow by importing all of our given images. We had to scale it to 63% and position it effectively so that it fits correctly on screen size. For the first image, we added a blur so that text would be readable and added a font so that the slideshow could have a title or context to it. I chose to add the DIN font with my name in my branded pink colour scheme that I use throughout most of my work and CV that is a kind of branded trademark of mine. This made the slideshow more personal to me.
We then imported sound and added markers to spot the certain parts and elements of the track that would work effectively for the transitions between different images. We then added a blur in and blur out of both image and sound and moved the images so that they fit in with the markers. We then added credits. We then rendered the movie and played around with bitrates to make sure we were working at our full potential.
We also briefly looked at sound editing software and how to make tracks longer and shorter if needed. I thought that the whole workshop was interesting and I believe that I learnt a lot as I previously hadn't worked within the software before. I would like to develop my own showreel with my own images, possibly for a studio project or personal one.
