Wilson's Republic Conference

"From designing textiles to engineering gearboxes, Huddersfield has a rich history of world-class design running through it.  Wilson's Republic #6 aims to celebrate these roots by looking to the future. Set over the course of a day we will bring together the design community to chat, work, listen and learn."

Today I visited the WRC which was a design conference based in Huddersfield by which we received talks by industry professionals, photographers with a host of different tasks and schemes taking place throughout the day. Overall, I thought the day was a brilliant day and has inspired me to look at visiting more conferences in the future.

Coming from Leeds, a close town to Huddersfield, it was fascinating to me to find out more about the real roots and historical influence that has influenced designers from the city or now working near the location. Overall, I thought the theme based on roots was suitable due to the growth and development of this relatively small town.  I also thought it was interesting to find out more about the rich history and the amount of talent that is grown here. The design sector is the fastest growing sector in Kirklees which also made for a fitting location also.
